Founder & Literary Adventure Curator

At the helm of Charter Book Club Adventures is Monica Ticknor, a lifelong educator, coach, and storyteller whose journey is steered by curiosity, fueled by connection, and anchored in adventure.

An educator and coach at heart, Monica’s voyage has been one of continuous exploration and a steadfast love of learning. A seasoned mariner navigating the wide oceans of education and literature, she holds a master’s degree in education and a minor in literary studies, credentials that reflect a deep-rooted passion for the transformative power of books and the boundless possibilities found within their pages.

For over a decade, Monica dedicated herself to teaching junior high language arts and history, where she turned traditional lessons into dynamic, immersive experiences. Her classroom was more than an environment fostering learning and was never just about textbooks and timelines, it was a launchpad. A place to reflect honestly, think deeply, and connect meaningfully through the lens of literature and life.

Beyond the classroom, Monica brought the same heart and leadership to the soccer field and basketball court. Coaching became another current in her voyage. Teaching not just skills and strategies, but the tides of perseverance, the rhythm of teamwork, and the resilience built through both challenge and triumph.

The spirit of adventure has always been woven into her story. From backyard wiffle games to collegiate soccer competition, Monica discovered joy in camaraderie and strength in striving together. Her freshman year of college led her abroad to the cobblestone streets of Europe, where she trained with her soccer team. There, amidst new landscapes and cultures, this experience awakened her appreciation for culture, diversity, and the beautiful tapestry and complexity of the human experience.

Fueled by this adventurous spirit and her unwavering belief in the power of literature, Monica launched Charter Book Club Adventures. She believes every book is a voyage, an invitation to embark on an empowering adventure, and the journey becomes all more epic when we R.E.A.D. Together.
