Past Voyages
Bridging the themes we explore in books with epic adventures.
What if a book didn’t have to end with the final page?
At Charter Book Club Adventures, we believe books can become vessels, carrying us toward deeper reflection, meaningful connection, and adventures we may never have imagined embarking on alone.
At the heart of every voyage is one mission:
To help women navigate life with greater intention, joy, and purpose one book at a time.
That mission begins within the pages of a book, but it doesn’t end there.
Every book is a voyage.
Every voyage is an invitation.
Through reflection, conversation, connection, and real-life adventure, we create unique virtual book club voyages for women to explore the ideas they’re reading and discover how those ideas might shape the way they navigate their own lives.
And some of our most epic adventures have taken that exploration out onto the water.
Through our collaboration with GirlsSailing.com, the vision behind Charter Book Club Adventures has quite literally set sail, transforming books into immersive experiences where women gather as a crew, step outside the rhythms and responsibilities of everyday life, and discover what can happen when we allow a book to lead us somewhere new.
And every return is an opportunity to navigate life differently.
The goal isn’t simply to go somewhere new. It’s to return differently.
One book. One crew. One adventure at a time.
Past Voyages
Sail into SELF!SH
Inspired by: Self!sh
Author: Stephanie Szostak
Our inaugural Charter Book Club Adventure began with an invitation to turn some of our attention back toward ourselves.
Through Self!sh, we explored identity, joy, personal values, accomplishments, limiting narratives, and the possibilities we sometimes lose sight of amid the responsibilities of everyday life.
One of the many gifts of SELF!SH is having the structure and resource to create our own unique personal playbook. A compass filled with our values, wisdom, joy, strengths, and reminders of what matters most. Something we can return to again and again when life gets noisy, helping us find our center, reconnect with our core, and navigate forward with greater intention.
The book became more than something we read together. It became a launching point for reflection, connection, and greater intention in the way we navigate our lives.
And it helped ignite the vision behind Charter Book Club Adventures:
What if we didn’t just read books…but allowed them to take us somewhere and return with a new perspective?
Unfixed: Charting the Currents Home
Inspired by: Unfixed
Author: Kimberly Warner
Some journeys ask us to stop searching for certainty and learn instead how to navigate the unknown.
During Unfixed: Charting the Currents Home, our crew explored what it means to live within uncertainty, loosen our grip on the need for answers, and trust ourselves enough to keep moving forward.
Our virtual voyage moved through four navigational themes:
Anchor. Helm. Horizon. Lighthouse.
Then, alongside GirlsSailing.com, those metaphors became something we could actually experience.
We stepped aboard, worked with wind and water, adjusted our course, and discovered firsthand that navigating life and sailing rarely means traveling in a perfectly straight line.
Sometimes living with greater intention means knowing where we hope to go.
And sometimes it means trusting ourselves enough to adjust the sails along the way.
Gift from the Sea: Shells. Sea & Self Discovery
Inspired by: Gift from the Sea
Author: Anne Morrow Lindbergh
A timeless book about simplicity, solitude, relationships, identity, and the changing seasons of a woman’s life became the inspiration for another adventure at sea.
Our crew began by exploring the shells and reflections woven throughout Gift from the Sea.
Then we carried those conversations offshore.
Our crew spent three days aboard the sailboat Opal, experiencing the sea not simply as a metaphor within a book, but as our classroom.
There were changing winds.
Unexpected conditions.
Moments of calm.
Moments that required trust.
And reminders of how little we truly need when we give ourselves space to step away, reconnect, and listen.
The voyage became an invitation to consider what we carry, what we can release, and how we want to navigate the waters waiting for us back home.
