Written during a retreat on Captiva Island, Florida, Lindbergh’s Gift from the Sea draws inspiration from the shells she discovered along the shoreline.
Each shell, a small work of art shaped by the tides, becomes a metaphor for the rhythms and complexities of our lives.
Together, we’ll explore the deeper themes woven throughout her reflections: simplicity, solitude, partnership, creativity, connection, and the changing seasons of life.
And consider how those themes take shape within our own lives.

Hosted by Charter Book Club Adventures and moderated by Monica Ticknor.
Before we set sail, we’ll gather for four live virtual book club conversations on Zoom to journey through Gift from the Sea together.
We’ll reflect on Lindbergh’s observations of the natural world while exploring our own inner tides: the changing seasons of our lives, the space we create for ourselves and others, the relationships that shape us, and the wisdom we discover when we slow down long enough to listen.
Our virtual gatherings create space for reflection, meaningful conversation, connection, and discovery.
Virtual dates will be scheduled prior to our in-person adventure based on our Crew’s availability.

We’ll bring our conversations beyond the page and onto the water during an all-inclusive sailing adventure with GirlsSailing.com aboard Opal.
GirlsSailing.com founder Captain Cherisse Ponraj will join our journey, sharing her sailing experience, wisdom, passion, and light with our Crew.
We’ll explore the shores of Florida’s Gulf Coast, the same coastal waters and natural landscapes that inspired Lindbergh’s reflections in Gift from the Sea.
Just as Lindbergh discovered meaning in the shells scattered along the shoreline, we’ll take time to explore these same shores, immersed in the natural works of art created by the tides.
Through sailing, shoreline exploration, watercolor painting, shared reflection, meaningful conversation, and connection with our Crew, we’ll bring the wisdom within the pages of Gift from the Sea to life.
